Our ancestors arrived in the Carpathian and Middle-Danube basin during the second wave of the great migrations.
In our county, the flat lands were occupied by the Hungarian conquerors. Excavated cemeteries prove that a leader's dwelling existed here. We also know the location of four cemeteries from the time of the Hungarian conquest and the 10-11TH centuries that were used by common people.
The richest of these was excavated in the 1950s between Miskolc and Szirmabesenyő. The find contained pieces of jewellery, ornaments of clothes, bracelets, weapons, arrowheads, harnesses, and tools. Let us mention a reliquary pectoral cross from the collection, for that proves the adoption of Christianity.
